Demonstrated examples of how we have been able to innovate and improve health outcomes:

Immediate access to healthcare which can saves lives

Faye is a resident in a nursing home and has contracted COVID-19. She is starting to develop symptoms and the aged care facility is in lockdown and quarantine. No doctors are willing to enter and visit the site.

The Care Manager consults with Faye’s family and arranges a Telehealth appointment with an Ardent Medical doctor.

Following a medical consultation with a doctor via video conference, Faye is deemed eligible to be treated with an oral COVID-19 antiviral. Doctor sends the local pharmacy the prescription electronically and the Care Manager is able to pick up the medication and deliver to Faye within the first day of developing symptoms. Faye makes a full recovery and doctor continues to monitor and consult with Faye via video conference on a daily basis.

Secure access to medical records

John works in the mines and has recently started a new position with a large mining company. As part of his new role, he is required to show evidence of Fitness to Work. John had undertaken a Health Assessment with his previous employer no longer than 3 months ago with CMS.

John is able to login to his Health E Portal which contains his private and secure health records including a medical certificate evidencing his Fitness to Work. The Health E Portal maintains all is occupational health records securely in one place.

Management and coordination of vaccination programs

Angela is the Care Manager at a nursing home and needs to organize for all her residents and staff to have their first and second dose of a COVID-19 vaccination as part of the priority populations cohort. The Department of Health has arranged for (CMS) an approved Vaccine Administration Service (VAS) provider to perform In Reach vaccine administration.

Staff, residents and their families can login to the Health E Portal to register their appointments and provide their informed consent. A team of doctor and nurses attend the facility to deliver the vaccinations and monitor for any side effects. All data is maintained electronically and automatically uploaded to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) within 24 hours.

Urgent pathology results alerted directly to doctors in real time

Jason is a doctor and has an immunocompromised patient suspected of staphylococcus infection. Jason requests his patient to undertake an urgent blood test.

Ordinarily, when blood tests results are available they are faxed to the medical centre for the attention of the treating doctor. Alternatively, the doctor needs to login to the pathology providers portal to access the results.

With access to the Health E Alert, Jason is informed in real time when the results are available and if it falls outside of set parameters. In the case with Jason’s immunocompromised patient, results were abnormal alerting Jason to admit his patient into hospital immediately without wasting any time.

Health screening to maintain a safe workplace

Elizabeth is a manager at a supermarket food distribution centre responsible for over 700 staff. A COVID-19 outbreak could potentially close the site and risk infection of large populations.

Elizabeth establishes a Clinically Overseen Rapid Antigen Testing Program to screen staff for COVID-19. All staff are required to use the Health E Passport App which requires a daily health declaration and shows evidence of a negative RAT result. Rapid Antigen Testing is undertaken onsite by nurses and a passport is granted on the Health E Passport App to obtain entry. Those that declare health issues or obtain a positive RAT result is consulted by a nurse or doctor on Telehealth and offer pathways to get better.
